Hey guys,

were headed to Indo tomorrow for a friends wedding in Bogor, and are considering checking out the Thousand Island National Park for 2 days.

Can anyone shed some light on what its like there, which island is a standout and who to go with etc?

A quick run down...

Thurs - Arrive in Jakarta at about 2pm, head straight to Bogor (for the hens/bucks nights).
Friday - Minibus hired to check out Jakarta old town, also going to some store to get some indonesian bits n bobs
Saturday - wedding
Sunday - free
Monday - free
Tuesday - fly back to oz at 5pm

am now wishing I had more time but, work not allowing it.

Am also thinking of checking out puncak, and more time in jakarta instead of 1000 islands...

The park is wildlife, natural beauty and the like. And fairly expensive to get there and stay there.

While in Jakarta a number of years ago, I visited here:
Which was interesting.

There is also:
which I see has been upgraded since I was last there.

Maybe a bit of shopping at Blok M:

Seems by now you've already in Jakarta. Hope all of you won't be too shocked with the nasty traffic :).

If you wanna go to thousand island, you can go by public speed boat from Marina harbour, located in Ancol area, north Jakarta. We have several beautiful islands to pick out: Putri, Bidadari, Sepa, Pantara, ... The agent in Marina usually will let you know what packages to take and what to do in that specific island you'd choose.

Puncak is also nice, just remember the traffic will be somewhat crowded. A lot of people are expected to be going back into Jakarta from their home villages this weekend.

Other leisure activity that you might like maybe some spa accompanied by traditional massages? Try to ask your hotel or guide where is the nearest place suitable for your budget.
Some culinary experiences would be worth to try..?

Taman Mini is also nice, maybe this Sunday won't be that crowded and I think it's open on Monday (just the museum inside won't).
If you like to go shopping for our famous Batik cloths; go to Thamrin City as you'll be able to bargain unlike in Sarinah Department Store, Pasaraya or other Batik outlets.

Happy to help more if you need. Enjoy!
