I'm a 38 year old guitarist/singer from London.
I've been a single, no-ties guy for a year now, so I've been gigging my butt off here in London. I'm getting bored of the routine of my day job and weekend gigs and now I'm getting the bug for a bit of adventure while I got the opportunity, so I'm looking to do a bit of travelling, but also play some gigs while I'm at it, just covers in bars e.t.c.

I lived in Florida for a while about 10 years ago, I have friends there, but I'm not really fussed where I go.

Just wanted some advice really, see if anyone can point me in the direction of a band or a group of guys who might want to get together for a few months over that side of the pond and have a bit of a rock n roll vacation.
Here's my bandmix page -snip-

I don't think you should waste much time/energy trying to set-up anything solid before you arrive... music/personalities/talent/etc. are all too personal and ever changing to arrange something solid in advance. Plus, it's a HUGE country - it simply doesn't make sense to travel thousands and thousands of miles to jam with someone specific, hoping to make a connection.

There are jams and open mics in countless bars in countless locations going on every night of the week all over North America. It's easy to hook into the live scene in almost any large city.

Get over here and wing it...

Have fun and good luck.

Thanks for the reply Terry.

I did that last time and it was great, just turned up. Ended up just staying in Orlando, which was cool cos I made a bunch of friends and loved every day.

Yeh maybe you're right. I just had this idea to get into a covers band and do a bunch of gigs. It could help pay for my stay there aswell as being a lot of fun. Was hoping to make it over twice next year. I gotta do New York, then maybe head down to see friends in Florida, but the big one for me is to do the whole Route 66 trip.
Such a big place, even 2 trips won't cover it!
