I'm flying into Chiang Mai from Phuket on Friday and was planning on going into Laos around the 14th October. I will then go into Vietnam and travel south in Cambodia.

Thing is, I don't have a pre-booked visa for Vietnam. I won't be flying into Vietnam so will be going over by land crossing. I ve read some previous topics on this but am still non the wiser

Can anyone suggest how I go about this? Chiang Mai is the only place definitely booked but I need to be out of Thailand by the 14 October.

Thank you

You can arrange your visa for Vietnam in Chang Mai or at major tourist spots in Laos. It takes usually 3-4days to process.

I got my Vietnamese visa in Laos, at the embassy in Vientiane. I went to the embassy myself but there are agencies which will do all that for you if you don't want the hassle. I think mine took 3 days but there was the option of paying more for a quicker service.

I guess your question is if you still be needing a Visa?
Yes! You do need a Visa. No matter if you travel via Plane or on the ground. You are entering another Country and each time you enter in to another Country you must have a Visa.
