I am arriving in Ho Chi Minh city on Dec 28 and staying there until Jan 9. I would like to see Halong Bay, Nha Trang, Ho Chi Minh, and Hanoi, as well as go to Cambodia and Angkor Wat. Any advice as to where to go first? Fly in and out of Ho Chi Minh city. Also, any advice as to where to go for New Years Eve 2012?

In my opinion, you can travel by this way:
28 Dec: Arrival Ho Chi Minh- visit some Ho Chi Minh beautiful or cultural destinations. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh
29 Dec: Ho Chi Minh - visit Cu Chi Tunnel, overnight in Ho Chi Minh city or flight to Nha Trang .
30 Dec- 1st Jan: Overnight in Nha Trang, New Year Eve in Nha Trang
2 Jan: Nha trang - flight or night train to Hanoi ( please note that the night train in vietnam is not good, it is not compared as European standard, so I highly recommend you to take flights)
3 Jan: Visit Hanoi, overnight in Hanoi
4 Jan- 5 Jan: Hanoi - Halong bay 2 days cruise, overnight on boat
6 Jan: Take flights to Seamreap
7- 8 Jan: Visit Seamreap, Angkor Wat
9 Jan: Seamreap flight to Ho Chi Minh and connecting flights to your home.
I hope that it is useful. Nice trip!:)

Looking at budget and time constraints, it looks like we may just do the South of Vietnam and then Cambodia. Think this will give us a little leeway as far as relaxing and not having to be going a mile a minute. Also, the flights outside of Vietnam are expensive. Thought it might be cool to get boat from Vietnam to cambodia and then just fly back. Maybe hit up Mui Ne and go sand boarding. Any thoughts on this trip??
