Hello Everyone!
In January, my super hot friend and I will head out to do some exploring around Chaing Mai. We will spend about a week looking around. She wants to hike from village to village and find waterfalls. I want to see caves and maybe do something crazy like white water rafting and cross into Burma for an afternoon.
Can someone please help with some suggestions? We are choosing adventure travel this time so it has to be at least semi mapped out. How do we get around? Where are some suggested locations to see? Where should we stay? Any help would be awesome!
Thanks a million!
Ben

Hi Ben,
There are two nice caves north of Chang Mai where I have been to:
1) Chiang Dao - few kms west from the town, at the foot of the hill. There is a nice accommodation closer to town (i think it's called mama's place), the guest houses on the hill are overpriced. http://wikitravel.org/en/Chiang_Dao#b
2) Half way between Pai and Mae Hong Son on the main road there is small settlement where you can find lodging. 5-10kms north of this village, there a gigantic cave too.
I am not sure if January is the best time for rafting - as it is the dry season and most of the rivers dry out by this time of the year.
There are also several nice places/adventure activities to visit around Pai. Pai may offer you more activities than what you could find in Chang Mai. Best place to stay in Pai is the bungalows across the small river.
Riding up from Mae Hong Son to the "chinese village" at the border with Burma is also a beautiful experience. There is a very nice hot sprint along this route.

Thanks Kichikacha,
I will look into Pai, that sounds like an interesting place to start. It'll be great to explore a little while we are in the area.
Thanks!
Ben
