Hi, I am about to move to the UK on a working VISA from Australia, trying to figure out where I want to base myself. I am 20 and really into the live music scene especially acoustic/alternative/indie bands.
Any suggestions to somewhere that may suit in any of Scotland Ireland and Britain.

In UK its Liverpool, here people are so friendly and it's a cracking city live. And in Ireland i would like to recommend Cork, one of my friend lives there, small city but plenty going on usually, lots of great pubs/bars some of which have live music on at the weekends.

You've got loads to choose from. I lived in Cardiff as a student for three years- and it's a lively place with loads of shops, bars and restaurants, and lots of cool indie clubs etc, like Buffalo Bar. It's an incredibly student friendly place and easy to get around, so ideal for a 20 year old. Apart from that, perhaps Brighton, or Edinburgh, or Bristol...it's a tough one!

London is always a safe choice! I'm biased because I spent a semester there when I was 20years old :P but I can't complain about my experience.
One time I went to this underground, hidden concert in West London. I'm sure you could find some of those yourself if you go!

I'm going to suggest Bristol. Fairly big city but not too big, decent community and good nights out!

I dont really know what every city is like but I've lived in London for a few months and lived in Bristol and I wouldnt want to move away from Bristol, London was good but expensive and full of tourists, great night life, loads of bars with live music, nice restaurants but then Bristol has all of this, less expensive and a more laid back feeling.

I grew up in Bristol and went to university in Cardiff - and now live in London.
London is great but extremely expensive so probably won't suit your needs.
Cardiff is a really nice city and has the best nightlife of the three. However, it's not that as easy to come by jobs as in Bristol.
Bristol is full of different cultures and this means the alternative music scene in Bristol is really big. It has a really good live music scene and is nowhere near as expensive as London.
