Hi, I am a 24 English guy and will be coming to America very soon!! I fly in to Los angeles, haven't yet booked a flight home (will I need to before I enter?). Just wanting some general advice on cool places to stay/visit, places to avoid, good nightlife, cost of living and travel. I would like to visit San Francisco, Vegas and New york. Unsure whether to fly from west to east or try and road trip it!! Currently in South east Asia, so of course I'll be spending a lot more in the States- what is a rough guide as a budget for a month?? Any response will be appreciated
English guy coming to America, What to do, see, any advice?
Pretty sure you'll need a ticket OUT before you'll be allowed to get on a plane to fly IN.
My daily expense estimate:
Vegas - $70.
LA/SF - $80.
NY - $120.
Ny is very very expensive! Statue of liberty cost like $30 or something, empire state was $16 I think when I went. It's worth catching a sports game if you can, baseball can be boring, I went to see the rangers which was awesome! I'd check out the grand canyon, it blows your mind.
Hi,
I have a suggestion for you to save your budget. Try to be in vacation homes than in a hotel.
It's much more cheaper and you get much more. You can find vacation rentals anywhere. Just check vrbo or home away.
For San Francisco, Nevada, Los Angeles and Hawaii, i suggest to check on HelloRelaxation, you can find some good deals there. Their units are close to beaches and restaurants.
Have fun,
Joyce
Another 24 y/o Brit here as well. Im flying into LAX 18May but going straight up to Spokane to see some friends.
No fixed plans yet but going to spend a couple of months just working my way back down and flying home from LA mid July.
You firmed up any plans yet?
Can't believe no ones recommending the clubs to you.
In Las Vegas, try out The Palms Hotel, Rio Hotel, Hooters Hotel, or Hard Rock. Most swear by the pool at the Hard Rock (or for that matter at any mid- to upper-crust hotel). Mirage, Caesars Palace, Tropicana, Mandalay Bay (personal favorite beach areas), Treasure Island, MGM Grand or Paris Las Vegas are all good pools too. Stay away from Excalibur since it caters primarily to families with young kids. Some of the pools I've mentioned have separate "European" beach areas where topless sunbathing is permitted, but you need to book ahead and pay a separate fee for these (never been to one in Las Vegas, though I did go to one in Paris years ago).
In LA, go to West LA area (near Century City or at the Beverly Center), or else go to any club near a beach area--or in Orange County, there are good clubs in the Irvine Citywalk area as well as in South Coast Plaza, Huntington Beach, and Newport Beach. The clubs in Laguna Beach mainly cater to the gay/lesbian population. Avoid downtown clubs unless you feel like getting in a fight. And whatever you do, stay out of Compton or South Los Angeles and don't wear red or black when passing through (gang turf war area).
