Hey Everyone,
Hope that everyone is ok and looking forward to their next adventure (where ever it may be, I know I am). I am a 27 year old from London (UK) who currently works in advertising & finance I am going travelling for a year (on my own) and am going to start of by flying into Mumbai (India) on the 5th of June 2012. My plan is to travel north to Agra then east up to Darjeeling. I will be in the country for 1 ½ months with no real plans set in stone…. (like to keep things loose) I am currently looking for accommodation in Mumbai in hostels (want to met travellers and keep it as cheap as poss) if anyone has any suggestions please let me know.
Also if anyone has similar plans or is in a similar situation get back to me and maybe we could arrange a meet up.
Message me if you are.
Cheers Will

In 1984 and 1988, I arrived at Delhi with nothing booked and each time seven weeks touring India. I had a great time thanks to a Lonely Planet guide to India. Well worth the money as it is packed with information and it will soon pay for itself.
I had a 30 day, then 60 day rail pass (bought at New Delhi station) and travelled constantly, sometimes travelling overnight and exploring a town next day. So much to see there.
You might want to check out Khajuraho while in northern India, and Varanasi on the east coast. Jaipur of course, Cochin and many other places.
Possibly even a side trip to Sri Lanka from southern India as it's only a short flight away by plane.
Don't forget your visa.
