I'm a 24 year old English guy and I've just booked flights to the US for 18May. Im now getting a bit worried as I have no real idea where to go or how to get there!
I'm flying into LAX and going straight up to Spokane to see some friends in Montana and from there the plan is just to work my way down again by bus/train (advice?) over the next couple of months and fly home from LA again on 19July.
If anyone is going to be around the States during these dates and fancies meeting up for a bit then sweet. If not is there any advise out there for a massively under-prepared traveller!
Bear in mind all of this is going to be done on the cheap. A lot of couch surfing etc will be done.
Cheers All!

I hear Missoula in Montana is a really cool town and Glacier National Park is supposed to be insane. Moose, grizzlies, big rocky peaks, crystal clear lakes, just pristine wilderness.
If you're heading down towards California check out the National Parks. They're all over the place so which ever route you take, hit up some of the iconic American landscapes. Look up Yellowstone, Bryce Canyon, Zion, Olympic, Redwood, Yosemite to start off with on the National Parks service website. Of course there's heaps of beautiful places that aren't NP's (some are National Forests etc) but its a start. The Lake Tahoe region in California/Nevada is one of them. And this is all assuming you're into the outdoors
And don't miss San Francisco. Fricken cool city.
