I'm a talker but live rurally - conversing is like pulling teeth. (Yes, I've thought about the fact they just might not want to talk to me.)

I bursted out laughing when I read your post Gretchen...although I dont live in a rural area, I do go to Northen Florida often enough, my father in law lives near Tampa. The staring into space is so true...I just used get frustrated, even more when I moved down here from New York, you can just imagine! Now, when we go vist, I just laugh and we are entering into another planet.

I used to think it was their suspicion that outsiders wouldn't understand them. Then I noticed it in my own family...the further out they are...the more 'disconnected' they seem....oddest thing..
