I am planning a short solo trip to South Australia for a few weeks over the New Year period. I'm a 21 year old Kiwi girl, have been to Aussie a few times but only to Brisbane and Melbourne. I'm keen to do something a bit different, would like to see more of Australia than just its cities!

Does anyone have any recommendations for where to go/what to see and do? I would like to be social and hang out with like minded young people along the way, a bit of partying, sightseeing, and beach time.

I have travelled alone before and really enjoyed it but this time I am tentatively considering doing the tour group thing. I'm a bit wary of being herded around all the time, does anyone have any feedback on the tour companies?

Any help would be much appreciated :)

Why don't you go on a riverboat along the murray? You can see some nice places along it in south australia, all the wine region and then go into victoria if you want, I dont think they are overly expensive. I like South Australia, really beautiful and Adelaide is a really nice city, really chilled out and the people are friendly!

Thanks appreciate the feedback! Would you say that South Australia is a good choice for what I'm after? I haven't booked flights or anything yet, the only reason why I am specifically researching this area is that I've been told that it will be too hot in Northern Territory. I'm also considering the Whitsunday Islands.
