I'm Travelling to Greece & Italy in July 2013 as a Honeymoon, and would love to see a few other places while im as from australia its a long way!

Ive always wanted to see the fun colorful markets and streets of marrakech, the snake charmers, Sahara etc. But its very far from where i will be and flights are costly, I was thinking of Istanbul but will i get that same Exotic Vibrant atmosphere?

And Vienna or Zurich all around what is better, We are one of those couples who has to do things, and can only sit around relaxing for a short period.

Unless there is any other places close to Greece & Italy you could suggest?

Thank You

I have been to both Marrakech and Istanbul.
Both are busy with travellers and locals, but of the two Istanbul is by far my favorite. Much less hassle and much more to see and do. You can easily spend 5 days in Istanbul, but after two days in Marrakech it is enough. It is more diverse and on the whole people are friendlier and although being a big city, it feels more relaxed than Marrakech.
Istanbul is pretty close to your destinations anyway, so choose that one if you can, saves you travelling and probably money.

Vienna vs Zurich? Haven't been to Zurich. Vienna is nice, but in a way rather boring. Zurich I have heard good stories about and it is probably al lively city. Not far from other cities as well, and countryside in Switzerland is magnificent. Vienna lies to far east for being close to spectacular mountains.

I agree about Istanbul. It is definitely worth the visit and I would go there given your location and circumstances. As for Vienna vs Zurich - go to Zurich. It is Switzerland with the Alps right at your back door and probably the second best train service in the world (I am partial to Japan!) You can wander the Old Town of Zurich, take a boat ride on the Zee (Lake), travel by train to the heart of the Alps in an hour or two - and best of all... have the most delicious Fondue you have ever had at the Hotel Adler restaurant in Zurich :)

I will give you other alternatives as you will be in Italy - go to Malta. It will surprise you.
