I am beginning my travels on August 10th. I fly from London to Bangkok. I plan to stay there for a few nights then go island hopping. I have been to STA to price introductory tours –the idea that I would meet some likeminded people as I am travelling on my own. They seemed overpriced , some were around the £500 mark. It seems an all-round better option to meet people on here and arrange an literary. I definitely want to be in Koh Phangan for August 21st for the full moon party.
I intend to travel around Thailand and the islands then on to Cambodia, Vietnam Laos etc. Following that Bali, I have a flight booked from Denpasar to Australia.
If your timings and plans similar…talk to me!

Hi kellie
I have just read your profile and it would seem we are the same people in relation to our travel plans! And we're both teachers! Have you booked your flights yet? Are you quitting your job or have you asked for a sabbatical?
Sorry...so many questions.

Hi, your travel plan sounds exactly what I want to do! I want to travel around Southeast Asia and the South Pacific (either as one big trip or 2 separate ones). I have the money saved up but no one to go with - I'm too scared to go alone though. I had considered an organised tour as well but they are so expensive and I know I would feel restricted following their itineraries.

Hi Laura
I am a little scared too. My coping mechanism is to try not to think about the prospect of being on my own and just planning lots and hoping it will all work out!
I know what you mean about being restricted-and with enough research I think you could create a perfectly good one without a travel agent.
When do you plan to go? Have you booked anything yet?

Hi,
I'm looking at possibly travelling SE Asia any time after July this year,
I'm only 21 and really quite petrified of doing it alone would be great to know if anyone has any definite plans,
I looked at STA's Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand tour which sounded awesome and not too overpriced but only very short....
Also looked at their Empire multi stop flights so going to Istanbul, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur then Mumbai,
Is this anything you guys have looked at?

Wow I just made this account to find Like minded travelers. I too am scared to travel alone. I plan on leaving new New Zealand (my home country :-) ) in August the following week after the 10th. Be awsome to meet up with someone. I've never traveled outside NZ before.
@kc84 your idea sounds pretty good but flying sounds like you might miss out on a bit.. I'm wanting to try the over night train from Thailand to Malaysia or the other way round. I haven't made definat plans yet. I'm totally open minded and really want to find a travel buddy

The over night train sounds good, I was looking at the flights as inspiration and because they probably aren't too expensive, I literally have no plans yet or set dates etc just kind of the money I have is the only set back cos I have about £2000 and just don't know what to do with it...

I agree, I have already spent hours on the internet reading travel guides and blogs. I've researched so much I just need someone to book my flight and put me on the plane!
I'm looking at going August/September this year.
Have you got any set plans yet? You've booked your flights already, right?

Hey guys. I've travelled from Thailand through Malaysia on overnight train- was fine, although get first class or you'll be battling the giant roaches. Not to veer you from your plans but if I were to do it again, I'd not go to Malaysia. I'd fly to Cambodia/laos and get the train around there. After the craziness and cheapness of Thailand, Malaysia seemed pedestrian.
