Hi Dee,

I am currently at BP since february, and I must tell you that you will miss a lot if you go to places advised in guides!!! I came here with three guides, and there really bullshiting!

I do not know what you would like to do in bp, so i'll tell you what it's worth doing according to me...
So, If you stay here for a week, I would advise you to go at least once to a bath. Gellert bath are really beautiful but a bit expensive, Shesheny bath (wrong spelling I guess, but you'll find them!)are alright, in winter you can swin in hot water when it's snowing!
If you stay for a week, you can go to the big tramway station at Buda, and buy a pass for two weeks (with that you can take the bus, the tram, the metro... and you will see the transport network is very efficient).
If you feel homesick (I hope you won't!), you can go to the Fat Mo's music club. It's a nice place, but it's too much like a Pub for feeling in Budapest...
You must go once at the Szimpla kert (garden), it's not written in guides or anywhere, it's in the VII I think (bus 7, stop next to Blaha lujza ter when going to the city center...then it is Kazinczy Ut., you will see a blue light, it's here!). Another nice unknown place is the potkulcs (Vörösmarty Ut.).

Hi Dee,

if you have a look at the 1 Day in Budapest thread I've posted a bit of advice already. As you have a weekend to stay I'd also recommend the Esceri fleemarket (Tram 4 or 6 to Boráros Ter, then Bus No. 54, just tell the driver you want to go to the market and he'll tell you where to get off) and the bars and pubs on Liszt Ferenc Square are nice to start a night out. On top of that Pesti Est Café has good and cheap food. Enjoy your time in BP!

Hi Dee,
Check out the fortress on top of the hill on the Buda side of the city. It is fabulous and offers spectacular views of the entire city. Hope this helps.
