Just about to book my flight to Oz !!!

Any advice where to look to get the best deals, my requirements are

- fly from any UK airport to Cairns
- book a ticket from July 2005 and return July 2006, but able to change the date if possible

Also, does anyone recommend buying a ticket with internal stops (plan to go to Sydney, Melbourne) or is it best to book internal flights while there as I am unsure of dates

Help !!!!

Sam xx

hi sam
We booked our rtw tickets with STA travel and found them very reasonable, dont know what there like for single destination tickets, but certainly worth checking them out. The staff were really helpful aswell.
As for booking internal aus flights, i was told that they are dirt cheap to book when your there, so that might be your best option.
hope this helps

Try these:

Austravel, Travelbag, STA, Flight Centre, Trailfinders.

You should be able to get something decent out of that lot. Flight Centre do have a promise to beat any other fare you might get (although they just knock a pound off normally!!!!). They all have websites. Ask about the internal flights, because sometimes they have specials on where you might get 1 to 3 free internal flights. Hope this helps.

I got my ticket through the Flight Centre and they were really helpful, and were the cheapest. I flew to Sydney though so not sure of they're flights to Cairns. When I got mine they couldn't hold the return open for 12 months, the longest they could hold it was for 10 months but it is easily changed.

Internal flights are dead cheap when you are in hte country - either virgin blue or jetstar do internal flights at good prices - I got a one way ticket from Newcastle to Melbourne for just over $100

Hope that is helpful!

the problem with flying to cairns is it may be more expensive than one of the bigger cities like sydney and melbourne, where most international flights arrive. it may be cheaper to look at buying a ticket to syd or melb and then catching a cheaper internal flight (jetstar or virgin blue) to cairns.

I agree with soliqa-i've yet to book my flight to Oz (london-sydney) and i've searched high and low and will be booking pretty soon (uncontrollable excitement!) I will be flying from within Oz and going along the east coast!

Have you checked the Quantas website-they got back to me with a flight from london-sydney-cairns-brisbane etc. and back to london for about just over £1000-how great!

I have also been quoted £750 for a direct flight from london-sydney-which is brill for a direct flight-this was with first choice!

Good luck with the boking and let me know!
