I have planned my itinerary to go:
Puno
Arequipa (with Colca Canyon trip)
Cusco
Nazca
Why is it that every other tour/itinerary/bus route I see goes:
Puno
Cusco
Arequipa
Nazca
Looking at a map this makes no sense to me? Is it to do with altitudes? Should I change my itinerary, or is it fine going my way too?
Thanks!

Hi Louise - I'm not sure where you might be now but your route is definitely possible and sensible. From Copacabana, Bolivia we went by bus to Arequipa via Puno (a quick trip to the floating islands) and then immediately caught another bus from Arequipa to Cabanaconde. We stayed there a few nights, hiking down to Sangalle for a night and back up again the next day. We then took a standard bus from Cabanaconde to Arequipa for a couple of nights there and then an overnight bus to Cusco where we stayed for two nights before doing the four day Inca trail. Back to Cusco for two more nights then an overnight bus to Nazca, a plane flight over the Nazca Lines and then a late afternoon bus journey to Lima for a few nights. All very easy to arrange, great fun and a wonderful experience. Hope you're presently enjoying your trip.
