Yer, Yer - I know, 2015 is a long way off, but , Hey, when I'm not travelling - I'm planning travelling.

So - What should I do in Sydney?

There's plenty to see - I guess a day spent around The Rocks, Harbour Bridge and the Botanic Gardens will be the first things to do. I think a must is getting on a ferry to Manly for some nice views. Am I right in thinking you have 3 days all up? It's not particularly long, so I guess you do have to consider your time. In which case it will depend on what you're most interested in.

There's some nice galleries about town. Taronga Zoo is a famous attraction that would be worthwhile if you like zoos . Or head out of town for a day trip to the Blue Mountains.

As I am new on TP I used the planner to post this, mainly to see how it works.

I was in Sydney in 2011 & got around quite a bit using a 'go anywhere' card.
Ferry out to Manley, a walk to Shelley beach over the head & back to Manley.
Ferry out to Watson's Bay & a walk to The Gap, then a walk & bus along the ocean to Bondi & bus back to the Rocks where the ship was parked.
And the CAT to Parramatta,
I had got an advance ticket online for The Sydney Observatory & that was a highlight - getting to look through the big telescope. Never done that before. As a bonus I got to see some large bats swooping around & a great sunset & night view of the bridge from an unusual angle.

In 2015 I will be in Sydney waiting to get the boat to Vancouver & have it on the planner for 3 days but it could be more or less.
My whole trip actually starts in mid January with a cruise from Hong Kong to Singapore.
I have been playing with ideas around getting to Sydney from the last booked stop which is Luang Prabang in Laos. The latest idea I had was to fly to Brunei for a stopover & connect to Melbourne because they will have a Dreamliner by then apparently.
Another option is to Fly to Brisbane & take the train to Melbourne, & train or tour bus to Sydney. I had even given some thought to putting an ad in a Melbourne ( this was before I found TP ) paper asking if anyone wanted to drive me from Melbourne to Sydney & I would pay the gas for there & back.
Now I have found TP more options may open up, but the Blue Mountains are a must I think. And I heard somewhere that the ZOO offers whole nights there. That would be great, to hear animal night noises knowing I am perfectly safe. Vancouver aquarium offers that too, where you sleep by the large aquarium windows.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.
