Most of my travels include some hiking, I guess there are plenty of other hikers out there.

The pic below is from last week in the English Lake District; it's Little Langdale looking SW to Wetherlam and the Coniston Fells.

Apart from the Lakes my favourite destinations for hiking are Scotland, New Zealand and Norway. Anyone got any favourite walks to share?

    ms_travelr

Apart from the Lakes (haven't been.....YET), your fav dest. list sounds soooooo familiar. Most of my hikes have been short distance or day hikes so looking forward to a long distance trek with a friend through Scotland hopefully this summer.

Where are you planning in Scotland for your long distance? The west Highland way is probably the most popular route, deservedly so, but I've also done the southern upland way and parts of the Speyside way and I'd recommend either.

Thanks for your reply. We haven't decided yet but yes we did look at the west HW and Speyside. Another consideration is Great Glen Way or Skye Trail depending on when and how long she can stay.

I heard reports that the great glen way is not so good, but that was soon after it opened. They said you are stuck in the trees a lot.
Skye's landscape is amazing, particularly the Trotternish ridge. Big distances though - I did it by car and took day hikes.
    Good luck whatever you choose.
