Chiang Mai International Airport
Travel Guide Asia Thailand North Thailand Chiang Mai Province Chiang Mai Chiang Mai International Airport
Introduction
Chiang Mai International Airport (CNX) is located west of Chiang Mai and is the main gateway to northern Thailand.
For more information about other airports throughout the world, also see the list of airports.
Getting there and away
Chiang Mai airport is located about 2 kilometres southwest of the city centre. If you feel up to it, you can consider walking to the airport, which takes you about 45-60 minutes. A ride by songthaew or tuk-tuk, doesn't take very long, and also is not too expensive.
Getting around
Getting around is fairly easy. At the entrance your bags are scanned for security reasons. Checking in is done at ground level. The security check is located on the second floor. In case of an international flight, make it easy on yourself and have the papers for leaving Thailand with you (you will have been provided these when you entered Thailand). Lines at passport check can be long at peak times, and standing in line twice, because you don't have this slip of paper, is something you don't want to do.
