  • Bergen City Marathon - Held third year in April, in 2014 - 26th of April. People of all ages can take part in the run in the streets of Bergen with 42 kilometres, 21 kilometres, 5 kilometres distances.

  • Nordiske Mediedager (Nordic Media Festival) - This festival is the most prominent and largest three-day conference in the Nordic region which happens annually in early May, Grieg Hall. It puts together more than 1,500 participants.

  • Grunnlovsdag (Norwegian Constitution Day) and Nasjonaldagen (The National Day) - Both events coincide with each other and are held every year on May 17 all around Norway. They are the main official national holidays.
  • Nattjazz (Nightjazz) - Held annually in late May. This is one of the most important jazz festivals in Northern Europe. Great jazz bands and musicians perform here. At the same time Nattjazz is a good chance for jazz beginners and new sound.
  • Festspillene i Bergen (The Bergen International Festival) - Takes place every year at the end of May. The festival is the principal event of its kind in the Nordic countries. During its period (for about 15 days) there occur a large number of musical, dance, opera, theatre, literature, folklore and visial art events.
  • The ”Fjord classic” cycle ride Bergen-Voss - Happens annually in May, in 2014 it is held on 31th of May. Cyclists of all abilities take part in this Norwegian significant sporting event, which starts in Bergen and finishes in Voss.
  • Bjørgvin Marknad - This Viking and Medieval festival is held every year from the end of May to the start of June (the dates vary slightly from year to year), Hordamuseet.

  • Eggstock music festival - Held annually in June. It is a rock festival for young and aspiring musicians.
  • Bergenfest – live music festival - Arranged every year in June, in 2014 it takes place on 11-15 June. Bergenfest presents a huge diversity of international musical genres, and a lot of famous musicians from all over the world come here.
  • Grieg in Bergen Festival - Takes place every year from the start of June to the end of September, Korskirken and Troldhaugen. It is Bergen’s largest classical music event with a large number of concerts.

  • Kystsogevekene (Coastal Saga Weeks) - Happens annually from mid-August to late September in Bergen, Oslo, Gulen and in more than 20 municipalities in Western Norway. Kystsogevekene presents a variety of coastal cultural and sporting events in such fields as crafts, handmade, water sports, art and so on.

  • Phonofestivalen - This music festival is arranged by volunteers with the support of the Bergen Student radio every year in mid-September. Students and young people are its main audience.
  • Raptus - Bergen International Comics Festival - Held every year in September, in 2014 - 19-21 of September. All the festival events are connected with comic books and visits from world famous series creators and artists.
  • Forskningsdagene (Norwegian Science Week) - This nationwide event takes place annually in September, in 2014 - 19-28 of September. It is organised by the Norwegian Research Council. The main aim of Forskningsdagene – to make science and reseach available to the general public.
  • BIFF – Bergen International Film Festival - Held yearly in mid-September-October. BIFF is one of the largest and significants film festivals in Norway. Its programme usually contains for about 150 films from all over the world.
  • Stoltzekleiven Opp - It is an uphill/mountain race, which happens annually in September. It starts from Fjellveien and ends in Sandvikspilen. The height of Bergen mountain Sandviksfjellet is 392 metres.

  • Mini Midi Maxi – theatre festival - Takes place annualy in November; children and young people are its main audience. Festival programme includes local and foreign theatre performances. Also every participant of Mini Midi Maxi can take part in different lectures, meetings, workshops and other discussions connected with theatre.
  • Holbergdagene – baroque music festival - This baroque music festival is held every year from late November to early December. It is arranged by Grieg Academy and focuses on the support of classical music traditions.

  • Pepperkakebyen (Gingerbread Town) - The world’s largest gingerbread town – Bergen’s miniature version - is exhibited annually from the middle to the end of December. It is one of Norwegian Christmas traditons.
