Arc de Triomphe and the Obelisk de Louxor from the Tuileries

Arc de Triomphe and the Obelisk de Louxor from the Tuileries, France

Created by Catherine de' Medici as the garden of the Tuileries Palace in 1564, it was eventually opened to the public in 1667 and became a public park after the French Revolution. It is my absolute favorite place in Paris. Yes, I know it is crowded and everyone in Paris eventually walks through it, but I also know you can walk off this main thoroughfare and find a bench all to yourself in a lovely secluded spot and feed the ducks. There is truly something for everyone in the Tuileries including a fun fair in summer, various playgrounds for children, fountains, ponds, ducks, fish, toy sailing boats, caf├ęs, ice cream stands, sculpture, two museums and on occasion, exotic goats mowing the grass. It is just fun and very pretty.
