Restaurant/Bar L'Ibis, Rue Khalid Ibnou el Qualid, off the north side of Ave Pasteur, an old established tapas bar with large lounge at the rear of the small street drop-in bar, sometimes features live Moroccan music, especially at weekends, friendly atmosphere and no beer hustlers. * Note that many Moroccan bars are signposted as "cafes or restaurants to avoid offending passing devout Muslims for whom alcohol is forbidden!

Tangier Lisba bar..... by Bennytheball
In an inconspicuous, nameless side street off the south side of Avenue Pasteur, lurks Lisba Bar, one of the very few surviving relics of Tangier's notorious Interzone decades, now remaining comfortably decadent and unimposing, the bar has television to accommodate the demands of football addicts, and a kitchen at the rear of the salon for the supply of 'tapas' ( small plates of complimentary free food) distributed when deemed necessary by the 'large' friendly hostess who also doubles as the bouncer, occasionally a passing minstrel picks up the in-house Oud from its niche carved out of the wall, performing impromptu renditions of traditional Berber music, much to the delight and appreciation of clientele, who dance around to the beat (adequate sobriety permitting!) One of my favourite Tangier bars.....

Tangier Cafe Hafa terraces.. by Bennytheball
Cafe Hafa is constructed on a series of terraces leading down hill, the kitchen is enclosed along with the restaurant, the cafe is an unsuitable venue on days with rainfall, but on a clear day with no cloud it offers a superb view across the Gibraltar Strait and distant Spain.

Tangier, Morocco, St Andrews Anglican church. by Bennytheball
The Anglican church was formerly a mosque but gifted to the diocese of Gibraltar as a Christian house of worship, and the surrounding cemetery became the burial ground of many Christian expatriates who lived for many years in Tangier.

Port Tanger Med railway station..... by Bennytheball
The station is located in the basement of the ferry terminal, with access by stairs or the lift, there is one departure daily from Port Tanger Med to Tanger Ville railway station and one in the opposite direction.......

An all-night cafe popular with shift workers at the port, kif smoking, card and backgammon games seems to be the way to pass the time, no food is available, only breakfast croissants and coffee, but an ideal place to relax, watch television and the diverse cultural patronage.

Tangier old railway station, Ave Mohammed V1... by Bennytheball
The old railway station still bears the TANGER name, but after closing down it evolved through several changes of occupancy, including the centre of the building being occupied by the tourist police, now the police have moved on and each end of the building features the FRS and Intershipping hydrofoil ferry ticket offices, while the centre is a luxurious visitor centre advertising availability of berths in the new Marina.

"The lazy person's terrace".......during the day unemployed Moroccan men must vacate the family dwelling to facilitate their wives doing the cleaning and household maintenance, this pleasant garden area on Avenue Pasteur is one favourite venue until it's time to go home to the prepared family dinner.
