Queen of the Hills by prabir.b.sen
We were approaching Jorbanglo, a small township near Darjeeling situated at an height of 2520 meter or 8297 feet above sea level. It was a grand drive from Darjeeling which is at 2,050 meters or 6,710 ft. The grandeur of nature is at its best in Summer and as one drives one passes through picturesque villages and townships.

"Holi" is one of the major Hindu festivals of India and is the most vibrant of all. The joys of Holi knows no bound. Holi is a festival of colours, when people all around smear each other with various shades of colour, as a mark to offer "Thanksgiving" for good harvest. Holi usually falls on March every year. This photo was taken at the time of "Holi" in March 2012 ..

Lt-Gov. of Bengal Andrew Frazer fell in love with this place by prabir.b.sen
It has been over 100 years now that one Lt-Gov. of Bengal Andrew Frazer fell in love with this place. The gentleman built a bungalow at a place called Narayanitala, a village nearest to the spot he fell in love with. It was a bungalow by the sea, surrounded by coconut groves which has been swallowed up by the advancing sea as years went by. This is Frazergunj a little distance away from Bakhhali, in West Bengal, india. Frazerganj is a hub for small fishing vessels with small time fishermen making their daily living. A mangrove forest presents a unique ecosystem.

GPO Calcutta by prabir.b.sen
The General Post Office, Kolkata is the central post office of the city of Kolkata, India and the chief post office of West Bengal. During the British rule, this building was designed by Walter B. Grenville(1819-1874), who acted as consulting architect to the government of India from 1863 to 1868. This majestic building has two wings supported by Ionic – Corinthian pillars and is crowned with a towering dome. The GPO is situated at the heart of the business area in Calcutta which is referred to as Dulhousie Square. This building has become one of the famous landmark of the city
