An old-established bar and restaurant on Avenue Mohammed V1 outside the port entrance, restaurant is on street level and lounge bar upstairs, convenient for travellers arriving on the ferry from Spain. Several wall-mounted television screens decorate the lounge bar for football addicts.

Tangier Synagogue Nahon circumcision altar by Bennytheball
The restored circumcision facility. The Synagogue was built by a wealthy nineteenth century banker from Tetouan and was used mainly by wealthy Jews, marriage and circumcision certificates are displayed upstairs on one wall of the balcony.

A possibly perilous short cut from Tangier port area, Route de la Plage Mercala, up to the Phoenician Necropolis, the ancient steps carved out of the rock face can be slippery in wet weather, there is also a collapsed chasm section of the stairway to be circumvented, only recommended for the fit of foot!

Tangier the new beach promenade by Bennytheball
Avenue Mohammed 6, the beach boulevard, the wind of change has now blown through Tangier and swept away all the old beach bars, Club 555, Oxygen, Golden beach, Blackies, Snob, and the rest ( although a signpost declares that 555 will be making a comeback but does not reveal the precise location. Camel rides are available and the sand is clean, a more desirable attraction than in previous years, a gardien (watchman) with his quad bike supervises the site for security reasons.

In the wake of recent terrorist atrocities in the Arab world, and the dismantling of several sleeper cells around Morocco, the government's reaction is to assign armed patrols to city centres to reassure citizens and tourists that safety is as guaranteed as is possible, the police officer in the middle of the trio is in radio contact with his HQ while the two paramilitaries are armed with machine pistols and maintain peripheral surveillance.
