Musée des Arts et Métiers by Beausoleil
Converted church with scientific & industrial artworks & artifacts, including Foucault's pendulum. There are all sorts of instruments of measurement, mathematics, physics, astronomy and much more. According to Wikipedia, "The Musée des Arts et Métiers is an industrial design museum in Paris that houses the collection of the Conservatoire national des arts et métiers, which was founded in 1794 as a repository for the preservation of scientific instruments and inventions." I used to do weaving and thoroughly enjoyed the display of historic looms. They cut a Citroen 6 in half so you could see the inner design. There were navigation instruments throughout history and a fun display of robots including a squirrel robot that actually has a job.

Musée des Arts et Métiers - a little hard to find but worth the search by Beausoleil
Google sent us to the wrong place to enter this museum so we were searching for an entrance. It was pouring rain, there were shrubs in front of the lone sign and it looked like a church. We finally crawled out from under our umbrellas and discovered the church was the entrance to the museum and actually part of it. Don't trust Google on this one.

Musée de Cluny-Musée National du Moyen Âge in Paris - the new section by Beausoleil
Affectionately known as the Cluny Museum, it is a recently renovated museum of the Middle Ages in Paris. The most famous exhibit is the room holding the tapestries "The Lady and the Unicorn" which is a feast of the senses. I actually liked the museum better before they renovated it, but they do have more display space and I'm sure working conditions are much better for the staff. Besides the Lady and the Unicorn tapestries, their collection of stained glass is wonderfully accessible, i.e. at eye level. The Kings of Judah in the basement are very imposing. Generally, this is a gem of a museum and it would be a shame to miss it since it's right in the middle of town and close to everything else you want to see.

La Rotonde de la Muette near the Marmottan-Monet Museum in Paris by Beausoleil
The restaurant La Rotonde de la Muette is at 12 Chaussée de la Muette between the Muette Metro stop and the Marmottan-Monet Museum. It's a great place to stop for lunch or dinner. The prices are very reasonable for the area and the food is good.

Marmottan-Monet Museum - Paris - Claude Monet - "Water Lilies". by Beausoleil
The Marmottan-Monet Museum holds the largest collection of paintings by Claude Monet in the world. It is in a beautiful mansion just off the Ranelagh Parc in Paris and has a marvelous collection in addition to the Monet collection. The big surprise for us the first time was a wonderful collection of illuminated manuscripts in an upstairs studio. This is easily our favorite museum in Paris and easy to reach by Metro or bus.

The Al Thani temporary exhibit at the Hotel de la Marine in Paris - very dark by Beausoleil
I have old eyes and walked into this exhibit and was blind. Several other older people just walked out but I knew my eyes would adjust if I took the time. Most of the pieces were gold or silver and the dark exhibit space with direct lighting worked very well if you were patient . . . or young. The web site states: Renaissance Treasures. The Al Thani Collection at the Hôtel de la Marine Discover the exceptional inventiveness of Renaissance art through a selection of 60 works of art from The Al Thani Collection. The Hotel de la Marine has an agreement with the Al Thani Collection and uses their works in various themed exhibits. They are always well advertised on the web site and it is an exceptional and diverse collection.
Hôtel de la Marine on the Place de la Concorde in Paris by Beausoleil
This is a marvelous museum that has apartments, a jewelry collection, marine/navy history and lovely views out over the Place de la Concorde. We missed the view on this trip because there were Olympics bleachers all over the Place . . . not very attractive. Normally, this is a terrific view.

Maussane - Lunch time at Café de la Fontaine by Beausoleil
Maussane is one of the two top regions in France for olive oil. It is a lovely town and nearby you can visit the ancient Roman ruins of Glanum, Les Baux de Provence and La Petite Provence du Paradou, the santon museum.
