Marty Restaurant on ave. des Gobelins, Paris by Beausoleil
Family-owned since 1930, everything is made on the spot. It is a tiny bit more expensive than some other places but truly worth every penny. The restaurant is beautiful; the staff excellent and the food beyond reproach. Even better, they are open every day except Sunday evening. It's kind of an art-deco, jazz-themed restaurant.

Ed's Cod at La Bonne Excuse by Beausoleil
We discovered La Bonne Excuse in 2014 by accident and fell in love with it. The kitchen is open so you can watch the excellent chef. It's small but very friendly. We went there for our 50th wedding anniversary and had a wonderful time including being wished a happy anniversary by everyone in the restaurant instigated, I'm sure, by the owner. When we returned 18 months later, they remembered us which was a big surprise. Then we decided to do our 55th anniversary here and not only did they remember us, we were escorted to "our table." They seem to remember everything. Once when I asked for a vegetable substitution, the chef came out to ask what vegetables I liked and then delivered the plate to me asking if it was suitable. Not only was it suitable, it was delicious and beautiful. He had added edible flower blossoms to the vegetables. It's a little out of the way on rue de Verneuil which is a small side street, but it is an easy walk from the Orsay and several other very popular places.

Brasserie Le Bourbon by Beausoleil
Facing the National Assembly and its 18th century buildings, between the Musée d'Orsay and the Musée Rodin, a lovely restaurant with tables on the terrace for lunch or dinner. Traditional French cuisine based on fresh products (fresh breads and fish) depending on the season and the market. Excellent service, convenient location, reasonable prices and very good food.

Rosa Bonheur on the Seine - a Guinguette by Beausoleil
Rosa Bonheur on the Seine is moored near the Pont Alexandre III and when I saw the name, I had to take a picture. Rosa Bonheur is one of my favorite artists and I always look for her paintings. To see a restaurant-boat on the Seine with her name was irresistible.

Tabac d'Orsay by Beausoleil
A funky little tabac-restaurant across the street from the Musée d'Orsay. We discovered our favorite restaurant near the Orsay had been bought out by a trendy tourist restaurant that was completely unappealing so we walked back and found this place that had traditional French food and a very friendly wait staff. It is certainly convenient to the Orsay.

Le Pachyderme, a fun French restaurant by Beausoleil
We left the Atelier des Lumières to find lunch. We walked to Place de la Republique and found a lovely Alsatian restaurant that was unfortunately right beside street works that involved a jackhammer. Deciding we couldn't deal with a jackhammer during lunch, we walked on and found ourselves on blvd. Saint-Martin where we spotted Le Pachyderme. I had started raining and it looked warm and friendly. We checked the menu and it looked like we could find what we liked for lunch so we entered. What fun. The wait staff were wonderful and the place was very friendly. My husband got the sea bass and I got souris d’agneau that arrived cooked to perfection and falling off the bone. We had a window seat to watch everyone running past in the rain as we enjoyed our lovely meal. The food was good; the service was excellent; the price was reasonable. I wouldn't go out of my way to return, but if in the area, I would happily return for more lamb.

Brasserie Lipp - Paris by Beausoleil
On 27 October 1880, Léonard Lipp and his wife Pétronille opened the brasserie (brewery) on Boulevard Saint-Germain. Lipp was from Alsace and featured Alsatian specialties. The good food and reasonable prices made it quite popular. In July 1920 Marcellin Cazes redesigned the brasserie, which had become frequented by poets such as Paul Verlaine and Guillaume Apollinaire. In 1935 Marcellin Cazes established the Prix Cazes, a literary prize awarded each year to an author who has won no other literary prize. Up to the present day the prize is advertised by the Lipp.

A mediocre restaurant with a fun view between the Picasso Museum and the Place des Vosges. If you like your food battered and fried, it's fine. Service was great.

You leave Place du Tertre, walk down rue Norvin to rue des Saules and continue on rue des Saules down the hill to the famous La Maison Rose. It's a great photo stop and good for a coffee or glass of wine.

La Bonne Franquette on Montmartre by Beausoleil
After lunch (and the rainstorm), we walked past Place du Tertre, headed down rue Norvin and turned onto rue des Saules past La Bonne Franquette. We've often talked about eating there, but somehow it never happens. We did stop once and the menu du jour wasn't very appealing to us so we decided to return another day. We'll get there someday.

Restaurant Au Soleil de la Butte 148 steps below Sacre Cœur by Beausoleil
We hiked down 148 steps (I counted them) to find this very pleasant and friendly restaurant. We had a very nice meal and then walked back up to Sacre Cœur through a park when we found the entrance just to the left of all the steps ascending.

Café Gaité on rue Gaité in Paris by Beausoleil
We found Café Gaité on rue Gaité. Not classy but very friendly. Ed got confit de canard and I got souris d’agneau. Food was excellent but our Côte du Rhone, while drinkable, was a very strange flavor. Dessert made up for it . . . they had Berthillon’s ice cream!
