To accommodate the new high speed Al Boraq train, a new railway station had to be built alongside the old building, access to trains is now on the first floor at the top of the elevator stairs.

Casablanca Rick's next door neighbour the scruffy Neptune Garage..... by Bennytheball
Many foreign visitors to Rick's Cafe believe that the old restored Riad ( town house) is the actual setting for the famous movie, but this is not so, the real movie was filmed entirely in Hollywood USA in 1942, nevertheless devotees of the film still visit the site in this mistaken belief, and completely overlook the scruffy Neptune garage vehicle repair shop.

Casablanca Rick's Cafe the late owner Kathy Kriger.. by Bennytheball
The owner of Rick's Cafe was a retired US State department employee who sadly died in 2018. Her memorabilia photograph hangs on the wall at the end of the bar along with a small folded reservation card in memory of her nightly evening presence surveying her achievement.
