Château Chambord Equestrian Show, The Church by Beausoleil

You see this small church from the Château and there is a little walkway so it's fun to explore. The Chambord Hotel de Ville (town hall) is right beside it.

Château Chambord stairway from the roof by Beausoleil

One of the most fun things to do at Chambord is climb to the roof. The views are fine, nothing spectacular, but the roof itself is magnificent. On this particular trip there was a wedding on the roof which was great fun. All the tourists joined in wishing the happy couple a happy future.

Château Chambord - the famous double helix staircase by Beausoleil

Not much to be said here; the stairway is very famous and much has been written. It is fun to go up and down and see how it works.

Château Chambord Equestrian Show, The Saracen Riders Chapter by Beausoleil

This was probably the most fun part for me. They dressed in Saracen costumes and there was some wild riding. The finale was the woman who was also portraying the Queen rode standing on her horse in Saracen costume. Spectacular. She was an excellent horsewoman.

Château Chambord Equestrian Show, The Death in Battle Chapter by Beausoleil

This started with knights fallen in battle lying on the ground with vultures on them. One of the vultures flew over to the stands and landed practically in my lap. It was a little more intimidating than an owl I had encountered at Château Milandes in the Dordogne several years ago. Perhaps owls just look more friendly . . .

Château Chambord Equestrian Show, The Market Wagon Chapter by Beausoleil

The Equestrian Show at Chambord is arranged by pages in a giant book that is the background set. At the end of each act, a page is turned and the next chapter begins. It's very well done and great fun.

Château de Chambord Equestrian Show - Entrance of the King and Queen by Beausoleil

There was much fanfare and the King and Queen entered. TV3 was there filming on this trip so everyone was outdoing themselves. We were fortunate enough to get seats beside the King and Queen (and TV3) so got great views of the show.

Château de Chambord, Entrance to the Equestrian Show behind the château by Beausoleil

You walk behind the stunning château to find this arena, walk along the wall to the entrance and wait until you are escorted into the arena. There are seats while you wait and it's fun to watch them prepare the horses.
