View from Chapelle Sainte-Sixte - Eygalières in the distance by Beausoleil
Chapelle Sainte-Sixte is a tiny chapel outside the village of Eygalières. It is completely isolated and seems in a very lonely place but in reality, you just drive a few minutes into a lively market town. The views of the Alpilles are spectacular here and there are seldom other people around.

Alet-les-Bains - Half-timbered houses by Beausoleil
Alet-les-Bains is a small town on the Aude River that was home to a very impressive Benedictine Abbey that is now in ruins. The village is lovely and welcoming with tours of the ruined Abbey, a new and beautiful parish church, excellent restaurants, beautiful half-timbered houses and lots of history. There is a spa fed by the nearby hot springs and further out of town is a small casino. There are also canoe rentals to explore the Aude River.

Alet-les-Bains - Hostellerie de l’Evêché by Beausoleil
This was the Bishop's house when the Abbey was functioning. It is privately owned and is a hotel with an excellent restaurant. The grounds adjoin the ruined Abbey and the Aude River. The setting is sublime and the food is well worth a trip.

Bénédictine Abbaye Notre Dame d'Alet from Hôtel l’Evêché by Beausoleil
Ruins of the Bénédictine Abbaye Notre Dame d'Alet in Alet-les-Bains. You now enter from the local Tourist Office. You used to stop there and they gave you a key which you took to an entrance down the street and let yourself in. They seem to have modernized.

Château Pennautier - Chapel interior by Beausoleil
More a visit to a place selling wine than visiting a chateau. A brief history found on the Internet: The Château de Pennautier was built in 1620 by Bernard Rech de Pennautier, Treasurer of the States of Languedoc. His remarkable charge required remarkable visibility and his castle had to be grandiose. As early as 1622, he welcomed King Louis XIII who donated his travel furniture classified as a Historic Monument.
