The Burlington Fountain at the Cascade in the Holker Hall Gardens by Beausoleil
At the foot of the Cascade, the vista is framed by rhododendrons and oak which leads to the top of the Cascade where you will find a marble statue of Neptune, a beautiful example of 17th century Italian craftsmanship. We also found ducks, a beautiful rooster, a hen and two chicks. Finding those is not guaranteed, but the statue is.

Just above the Cascade at the Neptune statue we met a group of ducks, one rooster and a hen with two chicks. To me any chickens enhance a garden so this was thoroughly enjoyable.

Fortunately after a very rainy morning, the sun came out so we could walk the gardens in the afternoon. Even in mid-September there were flowers blooming. It was lovely.

Entrance to the Gift Shop at Holker Hall by Beausoleil
Having spent a lovely day at Holker Hall and the Gardens, we had to visit the gift shop which also sells food items in addition to souvenirs. The cafe and brasserie are also in the building along with the facilities.

Driving home from Holker Hall in Cumbria by Beausoleil
The tourist attractions in Cumbria were very interesting; however, the countryside we drove through to get there was stunning. What a magnificent place to visit.

There is an excellent display about the famous fire. We took a tour in the morning, had lunch there and wandered the Hall and Gardens by ourselves in the afternoon.

Sealing wax at Sizergh Castle by Beausoleil
The seal and wax were one of the exhibits at Sizergh Castle and feature the three scallop shells that are on the Strickland Family Crest. The shells are found throughout the castle and it's fun to look for them. There are guided tours for 1 GBP each and then you can return and explore on your own or you can explore only on your own.
