Napaoleon's Tomb is made of red porphyry, often mistaken for mahogany. However, it is stone and not wood. Église Saint-Paul-Saint-Louis - Dome by Beausoleil
Église Saint-Paul-Saint-Louis is a church on rue Saint-Antoine in the Marais. The present building was constructed from 1627 to 1641 by the Jesuit architects Étienne Martellange and François Derand, on the orders of Louis XIII of France. The Saint Paul Metro station is named after the church. Two clam-shell holy water holders were a gift from Victor Hugo when his daughter was married there. Delacroix painted "Christ in agony on the Mount of Olives" for the church which can be seen to the left of the altar. The church's grand tribune organ was classified as a historic monument in 1867 and was restored in 1972.

Colorful dome in the Passage des Princes by Beausoleil
We were walking down blvd. Haussman and I looked into this building and caught a glimpse of a stained glass dome so naturally I dragged my husband in so I could get a better look and take a picture. We found ourselves in the Passage des Princes, one of the many covered galleries in Paris. It was the first of several that day.

Castle Howard by Beausoleil
Castle Howard has been used in quite a few films and television dramas including "'Lady L" with Sophia Loren in 1965 and "Barry Lyndon" in 1975, "Brideshead Revisited" in 1981 and 2008, the BBC's "Death Comes to Pemberley" in 2013, and recently the television series 'Victoria." There is a room with "Brideshead Revisited" memorabilia that is interesting. There are lakes and gardens, a wonderful garden center, many nice walks, a farm market and lovely fountains. When we were there, the fountains were turned off at three o'clock PM so try to get your photos before then.

Cathédrale Saint-Étienne in Cahors by Beausoleil
The Cathedral in Cahors is a national monument. It is an example of the transition between late Romanesque and Gothic architecture. The cloisters are lovely and very peaceful. The stained glass inside the church is both ancient and modern and well worth a visit.

Invalides from ave. de Tourville by Beausoleil
This is the side of Invalides most people don't see because they approach from the Seine. We were headed to a favorite restaurant so were walking across the back of the famous landmark.
