Ecluse de Bon Repos by the Abbey by Beausoleil
The Ecluse de Bon Repos on the Blavet River runs past the ruined Abbaye de Bon Repos. It's a beautiful resting place and has a small cafe with a great view. The ancient abbey has art exhibits that are usually well worth a visit.

Écluse de Jouarres (Lock of Jouarres) - the lock-keepers house by Beausoleil
The lock-keeper has a small stand that sells water, some drinks, home-made jam, snacks, small souvenirs and honey to people traveling on the Canal du Midi and to the many bicyclists who stop. On the other side of the canal, he has a beautiful garden.

Canal du Midi - Écluse de Jouarres (Lock of Jouarres) - the Lock-keeper's garden by Beausoleil
There is a working lock here with the requisite lock-keepers cottage, snack/souvenir stand and his very neat garden. We were on a barge tour on the canal so didn't stop but we did get to go through the lock going both west and returning east. The scenery was incredible. Unfortunately, all the beautiful plane trees lining the canal have been removed due to a fungus. It has been replanted with a variety of trees but they are tiny and won't be picturesque for another twenty or so years. We're really glad we went when we did.

Leaving the Écluse de Jouarres (Lock of Jouarres) by Beausoleil
Going through the canal lock was fun. You wait as they let the water out, open the doors, go into the lock then the doors close and you wait as the lock fills with water lifting you up to the next level. When you are level with the exit, those doors open and you float out onto the canal and continue your journey.
