Walking past Zadkine on our way home by Beausoleil
There is a Zadkine sculpture across from Eglise Saint Germain des Pres that we walk past often. Then in the churchyard there is a Picasso. I love the ancient church with two very modern sculptures in such proximity.

There's a sculpture in the center of the garden of the poet Guillaume Apollinaire There is a story that when Picasso was commissioned to sculpt the bust of Apollinaire by the Paris City Council, the negotiations became so protracted that the artist became frustrated to the point that he supplied one of the heads of Dora Maar instead. Cast in 1941, the bust was placed on the plinth as an homage to Apollinaire, and it tells us a great deal about surrealism, that nobody noticed the difference. Picasso created four busts of Dora Maar and this is one of them. The resemblance to the others is unmistakable; however, the resemblance to her actual appearance is a mystery. It does not resemble Apollinaire. Whatever the stories say and whatever the truth of the situation, the garden is a lovely, peaceful place to rest and reflect if you've been doing a lot of walking and are a bit tired. The flowers in spring and summer are gorgeous.

There is marvelous art you can see for free all over Paris. Near "Prometheus" by Ossip Zadkine is this wonderful sculpture of Guillaume Apollinaire by Picasso. It's in the garden behind Église Saint-Germain-des-Prés on Square Laurent-Prache. Walk between Les Deux Magots and Église Saint-Germain-des-Prés to the pretty park behind the church.

The Picasso Museum in Paris is in the Hôtel Salé in rue de Thorigny, in the Marais district of Paris. The old building is magnificent and it has a wonderful collection of works by Picasso. They also have special exhibits and also works collected by Picasso of other artists. I liked it better before the renovation, but it is still one of the must-see sights in Paris.

Le Square du Vert-Galant by Picasso by Beausoleil
This is a fun painting done by Picasso in 1943. We love the actual Square so the painting is pure fun.
