Place de Fürstenberg with art installation by Beausoleil

The Delacroix Museum is located off Place de Fürstenberg and a sculpture by Aaron Nachtailer from Argentina called "One Cubic Meter of Sunflowers - 2019" was installed on the tiny square. It was an installation of branches, stones and ropes.

Sculpture installation on Place de Fürstenberg by Beausoleil

Place de Fürstenberg, right around the corner from Église Saint-Germain-des-Prés is a quiet, peaceful little square in central Paris where we love to escape the crowds. On this visit there was an art installation that was supposed to be sunflowers but reminded us of Stonehenge. As everything in Paris, it was interesting. Just off this tiny square is the hidden entrance to the Delacroix Museum which is well worth a visit. It's free the first Sunday of the month and seldom crowded. There is also a lovely garden inside the museum, one of the Hidden Gardens of Paris.

One of the Wallace Fountains at a tiny square (triangle) between rue Bréa and rue Vavin by Beausoleil

The Wallace Fountains are public drinking fountains designed by Sir Richard Wallace and sculpted by Charles-Auguste Lebourg. They are large cast-iron sculptures scattered throughout the city of Paris that provide clean drinking water. We fill our water bottles when we pass one. The final four caryatids on each fountain represent kindness, simplicity, charity and sobriety. The City of Paris web site has a map of all the fountains. Sir Wallace funded 50 but the number has doubled over the years.

Time for a kir . . . by Beausoleil

Our boulangerie was closed on Thursdays so we decided to have a kir at Cave Bourgogne overlooking Fontaine Guy Lartigue. It didn't give us bread but it made us feel better.

Square Saint-Medard with the Fontaine Guy Lartigue by Beausoleil

Our Boulanger was Saines to the left of the fountain in this photo. We ended most days here for our daily bread. The ladies took very good care of us and usually had our order bagged and ready when we got there. This despite the fact we seldom spent more than a euro or two. They were just nice people who had excellent bread.

Main Square and Fountain in Daglan by Beausoleil

There is a large parking lot just past the Tourist Information Office, Maison de la Pierre Seche. Park and walk into town. The main square has a delightful fountain popular with bicyclers. You'll find restaurants, a boulangerie and a small grocery nearby. Daglan is not one of the Plus Beaux Villages of France, but it is a Ville Fleuri and exceptionally pretty. There is a park along the Céou River where you can picnic if you like.

Dinner in Café Rohan by the Cathedral in Bordeaux by Beausoleil

A nondescript café with a fabulous view of the Bordeaux Cathedral St. André. Their ice cream is great but meals only average. However, it is very convenient if you are sightseeing in the area.
