Plan d’Orgon - Église Notre-Dame-de-Beauregard way up on the hill by Beausoleil
Driving from Mollégès to nearly anyplace north, we had to go through a town called Plan d'Organ. The most notable sight was a monastery at the top of a giant rock hill just south of the town. There are huge rock cliffs and the church is perched at the very top. There is a road up and fabulous views from the garden but the road is not for the faint-hearted. It is a very narrow one lane with no guard rails, solid rock straight up on one side and solid rock straight down on the other side.

Driving through Saint-Julien-le-Faucon by Beausoleil
We grew to love this tiny village during our week here. Will miss it. It is small but has everything you could possibly need.

From our gite to Orbec, we drove through Livarot. We long ago voted Livarot the most pleasant tourist office in France.
Basilique Notre-Dame-de Déliverance in Quintin by Beausoleil
We walked past this basilique down some steps to a recommended restaurant so when we returned to our car, we decided to go into the church and see what it looked like. Very pretty and lovely stained glass. There was a nice fountain outside with an explanation board giving the history of the church.

We walked down some steps beside the basilique to a recommended restaurant so when we returned to our car, we decided to go into the church and see what it looked like. Very pretty and lovely stained glass. There was a nice fountain outside with an explanation board giving the history of the church. The restaurant was very pleasant and had local foods.

St. Michael and All Angels Church by Beausoleil
St. Michael and All Angels was built in 1839 within the village of Broadway itself. It has a lovely carved wood pulpit transferred from St Eadburgha, the former church which lies outside of town.

St. Patricks Church in Corsham by Beausoleil
Corsham is a fairly large town near Lacock with all needed amenities, including this lovely and very friendly church. It was formerly a school and the local Catholic Church purchased it and it makes a lovely church.

Cheverny approaching the Château parking lots by Beausoleil
The Château de Cheverny is somewhat south of the main village but has its own little village surrounding it. You can visit the Château and eat right here without going into town if you like. Parking I is closest to the Château and out of season, the pedestrian entrance will be open for cars and it is just at the entrance. Check the web site for more information.

Hooray! Faverolles-sur-Cher. Now, can we find the gite? by Beausoleil
The first time we came here many years before GPS, we had a terrible time finding this wonderful gite / B&B and drove in circles for half an hour or more. We passed one man working in his garden at least five times and he started to wave at us going past. I'm sure he thought we were crazy. This time, we knew exactly where to go and were "home" within five minutes.

Villedieu-sur-Indre, finally off the AutoRoute by Beausoleil
The AutoRoute is fast but not terribly scenic so we were delighted to exit and head into the countryside once again. We love to drive through all the villages along the way and see the lovely old buildings and beautiful churches there.

Driving through Le Bugue in the rain by Beausoleil
We started our trip north in the rain and were in and out of it all day. It didn't do much for my pictures, but fortunately we had lots of photos of Le Bugue, a very untouristy, friendly French town. I just happened to catch this one of our favorite restaurant in Le Bugue, Le Cygne.

Eglise Saint-Martin in Daglan by Beausoleil
There is a large parking lot just past the Tourist Information Office, Maison de la Pierre Seche. Park and walk into town. A right turn near the Mairie will take you to the 14th century church of Saint Martin (follow the steeple) where you can find a carved wooden statue and these colorful butterflies. Daglan is not one of the Plus Beaux Villages of France, but it is a Ville Fleuri and exceptionally pretty. There is a park along the Céou River where you can picnic if you like.

Eglise Notre-Dame-de-l’Assomption also called Notre-Dame de Montcuq by Beausoleil
Eglise Notre-Dame-de-l’Assomption also called Notre-Dame de Montcuq is on Google maps as Parish Our Lady of Capelou and is part of that parish but is named as above. The second name is the more historic one. The frescoes inside are amazing. While it is not in Old Town, it is definitely worth the walk (or drive) to visit.

The drive from Limeuil to Montignac and Lascaux IV is very picturesque with farms, small villages, rivers and hugh cliffs with mysterious caves.
