This was one of the first places we passed entering Veules-les-Roses and we loved it. It's a good indication of what is to come.

We haven't been inside either the Grand Hotel or the Casino but we have often walked along the gorgeous beach. It is beautiful and worth the trip to Cabourg.

Notre Dame from the Pont au Change in Paris by Beausoleil
This was a month after the horrible April fire at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. As you can see from this photo from the bridge, the entire steeple and most of the roof is gone. It was a very sad time in Paris.

Église Saint-Paul-Saint-Louis by Beausoleil
Église Saint-Paul-Saint-Louis is a church on rue Saint-Antoine in the Marais. The present building was constructed from 1627 to 1641 by the Jesuit architects Étienne Martellange and François Derand, on the orders of Louis XIII of France. The Saint Paul Metro station is named after the church. Two clam-shell holy water holders were a gift from Victor Hugo when his daughter was married there. Delacroix painted "Christ in agony on the Mount of Olives" for the church which can be seen to the left of the altar. The church's grand tribune organ was classified as a historic monument in 1867 and was restored in 1972.

The Conciergerie from Pont Neuf - Paris by Beausoleil
The Conciergerie was formerly a prison but is now used mostly for law courts. It was part of the former royal palace, the Palais de la Cité, which consisted of the Conciergerie, Palais de Justice and Sainte-Chapelle. It is one of the best-known landmarks in Paris. Marie Antoinette was imprisoned here and you can visit her cell.

Greater downtown Brantôme by Beausoleil
Brantôme is famous for its Abbey, but since the Abbey and the Old Town are on a large island in the Dronne River, there is a lot of kayaking and canoeing available too. There are restaurants and hotels along the river and fortunately, lots of parking to go with all the activity.

Piazza Galimberti in Cuneo, Italy by Beausoleil
This loggia goes around the piazza and where you see light, there is a street. I didn't realize this and cheerfully stepped out into it. My husband grabbed me and quickly pulled me back as a car zoomed through the opening. Scary. I looked carefully after that . . .
