The village of Tourtoirac is known for the abbey and also for the Grottes de Tourtoirac, nearby caves you can visit. The caves are accessed by a lift (elevator) that descends 25 meters and then there is a flat walkway around the cave system that is suitable both for wheelchairs and strollers. Visits last about one hour. You may want a jacket since it is quite chilly in the caves.

Tiny square in the center of Tourtoirac. There are a couple restaurants and some parking. Up the street one way is the Abbey and the other way is a town market once a week.

Gite La Truffière du Portail on a truffle farm near Tourtoirac in France - just perfect by Beausoleil
One of our favorite gites so far. It was spotless and the view from the terrace was fabulous. The three ladies running it were wonderful and the tour of their truffle farm was great fun and very educational.
