Sorges-et-Ligueux is the truffle capital of France. There is a truffle market every Sunday morning of December and January, open to the public at 10am. There is a Truffle Festival the last weekend of January. They have a night Market and summer truffles the 2nd Friday of July and the first Friday in August from 18h. There is a truffle museum in the town and while you can't take pictures inside, there is a wealth of history and information. Sorges also has a beautifully renovated 12th century church with beautiful modern stained glass windows and metal Stations of the Cross that were made by Richard Riche, a local artist.

These are truffles as in mushrooms / fungi, not chocolate truffles. Two separate and completely delightful things. We toured a truffle farm and I was having so much fun I forgot to take pictures but we received this handout and it will have to do.
Gite La Truffière du Portail on a truffle farm near Tourtoirac in France - just perfect by Beausoleil
One of our favorite gites so far. It was spotless and the view from the terrace was fabulous. The three ladies running it were wonderful and the tour of their truffle farm was great fun and very educational.
