Chartres - Bistro le Sully, a pleasant lunch stop by Beausoleil
We walked down from the Cathedral looking at menus as we walked. Bistro Sully had what we wanted so we stopped there for a very nice lunch.

Canal du Midi in Trèbes by Beausoleil
Our gite was on the Aude River just one block from the Canal du Midi and all these lovely restaurants. There were shops, bakeries, groceries and restaurants here with the addition of a local street market on Sunday. Great fun.

Market at Place de la Clautre in Périgueux by Beausoleil
There is a lively Wednesday market in Périgueux just beside the famous Cathedral. There is a parking lot in a street below the market that is very convenient.
Place de la Libertè in Tourtoirac by Beausoleil
Tiny square in the center of Tourtoirac. There are a couple restaurants and some parking. Up the street one way is the Abbey and the other way is a town market once a week.

Umbrella stand by Pepperismybaby
Lots of commercial buildings have these umbrella stands outside them. It's all so organised and Japanese. When I took this photo the security guard saw me and started chuckling. He laughed again when I came out.

Veules-les-Roses - Le Bristol by Beausoleil
There are lots of restaurants, cafes and tea rooms in Veules-les-Roses. Unfortunately, most were closed the day we were there because of rather violent storms. We did find one open and had a nice lunch although we didn't find Le Bristol until after we had eaten.

Driving through Cormeilles - more umbrellas by Beausoleil
We saw several towns with installations of umbrellas. They are fun and pretty . . . and also harbingers of all the rain we had on the trip.

Brasserie Le Grand Café on the main square by Beausoleil
During Covid, many restaurants were still closed or offering takeout. A couple others didn't have very appealing menus so we ended up at this little tabac/brasserie on the main square. It turned out to be a very good choice and the food was excellent. Our waiter didn't speak English but he managed to understand our French so it worked out well. I wouldn't call if a find, but I certainly would go back.

Musée des Arts et Métiers (National Museum of Arts and Crafts) by Beausoleil
The Museum of Arts and Crafts is one of the oldest technical and industrial museums in the world. Its history is intimately linked to that of the National Conservatory of Arts and Crafts (Cnam). It is closed on Mondays.

Restaurant Marty - Everything is Home Made by Beausoleil
Family-owned since 1930, everything is made on the spot. It is a tiny bit more expensive than some other places but truly worth every penny. The restaurant is beautiful; the staff excellent and the food beyond reproach. Even better, they are open every day except Sunday evening.

Some of many paintings at Place du Tertre on Montmartre in Paris by Beausoleil
Place du Tertre is a major tourist destination on Montmartre. There are shops, restaurants and lots of artists who are selling their paintings or offering to do your portrait. It's very crowded and very touristy but lots of fun. It's one of those places every visitor to Paris should see at least once. Just expect lots of company.

Pont Neuf in the Rain - Paris by Beausoleil
The Pont Neuf, despite being called the New Bridge, is the oldest standing bridge crossing the Seine River in Paris. Construction started in 1578 and it was inaugurated by Henri IV in 1607,

Place de Passy - two views by Beausoleil
We were doing one of our Paris Walks and walking from lunch to the Passy Metro station. The building at the edge of Place de Passy caught my eye (left photo) and then the very busy Place de Passy with all the people grabbed our attention. A very busy, fun part of Paris and probably a good place to go shopping.
