This is one side of the Ara Pacis built in 9AD to honor Augustus. It is a sign of peace and was used to sacrifice animals at for the gods. It is one of the oldest ancient ruins here in Rome (over 2000 years old) and in prestine condition! I'm sure that they hand crafted the images on the side of the marble--it actually used to be painted too, but time has worn off the colloring. This particular side, I believe, is showing the imperial family of Augustus.

What is this Krissy ? Pretty...I wonder how they did this ?
