No advanced technologies but a huge labour force, lots of hard work, no health & safety regulations and many, many incredibly skilled craftsmen (never women at that time) who started their apprenticeship at their father's knee. We have lost so many skills from the past. Very few people nowadays can even start a fire without a match or make a stone arrowhead, let alone carve stones and build a massive church!

You have great photographs, my friend! I always wonder how on earth they managed to built such majestic edifices hundreds of years ago...It seems like people had far more advanced technologies than we have now...
