Coniston Water in Cumbria is the third largest lake in the English Lake District. It is five miles long by half a mile wide, has a maximum depth of 184 feet, and covers an area of 1.89 square miles. The John Ruskin Museum is in the town of Coniston on the lake and his final home, Brantwood sits on a hill overlooking the lake. The world water speed record was set here several times by Donald Campbell in his boat, Bluebird.
