Whitby Abbey by Beausoleil Star this if you like it!

Whitby Abbey is an English Heritage site. We were lucky enough to see it under a rainbow . . . although I'm not sure how lucky we were to be spending another sightseeing day in the rain. The Abbey was a 7th-century Christian monastery that later became a Benedictine abbey. The abbey church overlooks the North Sea on the east cliff above Whitby in North Yorkshire, England, a center of the medieval Northumbrian kingdom. The Abbey was founded in AD 657 under the rule of Saint Hilda a s a double monastery of both men and women.
