Medici Fountain at the Luxembourg Gardens by Beausoleil 2 Star this if you like it!
The Luxembourg Gardens are located in the 6th arrondissement. In 1612 they were created by Marie de' Medici, the widow of King Henry IV of France, for her new Luxembourg Palace. The gardens include an orchard with a variety of old and forgotten apples, an apiary to learn about bee-keeping, a rose garden and greenhouses with a collection of orchids. The garden has 106 statues spread throughout the park, the beautiful and romantic Medici fountain and an Orangerie. Children have puppet shows and pony rides along with playgrounds and little boats to sail in the pond. Adults can play chess, tennis, bridge or take exercise classes. There are free photography exhibits on the fences and free concerts at the bandstand. There is always something to do at the Luxembourg Gardens . . . or you can sit quietly and read a book.
