Fort Young (now a Hotel) by DAOonVT Star this if you like it!

Fort Young was built by the British government in 1770 just prior to the American War for Independence (1775-1783). It was felt that this small part of the Empire was in need of fortification. It is named after the first British Governor, William Young. The fort passed into the hands of the Dominican Police Force and finally became a hotel in 1964. Hurricane David (1979) destroyed a large part of the remaining fort. Parts of it are integrated into the current Fort Young Hotel today.
