Mirepoix - Cathedral Saint-Maurice - The blue window shutters with hearts are still there. We first saw them over 20 years ago. by Beausoleil Star this if you like it!

Saint Maurice is listed on Google Maps and many other places as a Cathedral but it hasn't been the seat of a bishop since 1801. It is the parish church of Mirepoix and important because it has the second widest nave of a gothic church in Europe. Only Girona in Spain is wider. In medieval times, the Bishop of Mirepoix was seated here and it was officially a cathedral. It was renovated at one time by Viollet-le-Duc and is still impressive with many side altars and much of the paint remaining.
