Gustave Moreau Apartments in the Museum - the apartment by Beausoleil Star this if you like it!

Gustave Moreau was the son of an architect and he first traveled to Italy at age 15 and was deeply influenced. He experienced both failure and success at the Paris School of Beaux Arts but ultimately taught there and two of his pupils were Georges Rouault and Henri Matisse. His father bought him the house at 14 rue de La Rochefoucauld. He arranged to have the house turned into a museum which he willed to the French state on condition it be kept as is in perpetuity. In 1883 he was named an Officer of the Legion of Honor however had only one solo exhibition in his lifetime and was not elected to the Académie des Beaux-Arts until 1888. One of the highlights of the museum is the magnificent spiral staircase leading to the upper floors.
