My first Buddha Wat by GaryWeir Star this if you like it!

This was the first Wat (temple) we came across. We were walking around after having just arrived to find our bearings and came across this on one of the main roads. Nobody was around and we had the privilege to speak to one of the 'Buddha's' who happily answered all our questions. All temples are made of a an extremely solid wood called Teak. It's very expensive nowadays thanks to the British exploiting the tree for a very small gain when parts of the region was a colony of the empire. Apparently, the British also raided the ruby mines in Myanmar too, so good on you lads. Thankfully, the Thais don't appear bitter about it, well, at least our tour guide who took us up to the temple on Monday wasn't but I say that because I feel incredibly welcome here.
