Travel loving Brit lucky enough to travel regularly for work. I’m a refugee from the shutdown of Marriott Insiders. Typically I stay around 100 nights each year in hotels, a little over half of which are business. I seek value on my business accommodation but need a quiet property with working space in the room. This pretty inevitably means the chain business properties, Marriott, Courtyard, Renaissance, Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn Express make up the vast, vast majority of my business travel and I receive points and benefits from the parent companies, IHG and Bonvoy every time I stay. Hence the loyalty programs represent a real part of the value matrix to me. The hotels may not reflect local charm but the beds always comfy, the aircon and all other functions work, cleanliness is a given, and there’s no nasty surprises. I get my local fix when I walk out the door!
