I was a complete backpacking novice when I left England in September 2009. I went to Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.
I then went back to Sydney and worked from June 2010 to December 2010, before heading back to New Zealand for three months and then a couple of weeks in Indonesia before arriving home on 15 March 2011 - exactly 18 months to the day after I left.
I've been away travelling again since then, but without a doubt that first trip and the 18 months I was away for was the best time of my life.
Check out my backpacking website - backpackingforbeginners.com - for backpacking hints, tips and advice!
- Hobbies:
Football, music, films, running and the occasional drink
- Favourite places:
Anywhere I have travelled to, but the top three would be:
1) Yasawa Islands, Fiji
Amazing sunsets, amazing night skies, cocktails, Fiji bitter, hammocks, beaches, no roads, beautiful seas, great food, great people = paradise2) Ko Kut, Thailand
Still relatively undiscovered so get there before it becomes popular! Lovely little island with little or no development and the most relaxed pace of life ever!3) South Island of New Zealand
A bit general here I know but amazing scenery, lots of wide open spaces, an abundance of beautiful little towns and villages and barely any people!
Find fulfilment in everything you do
